1983 – Chet Pipkin founded Belkin in his parents’ house. Released its first product, an intelligent cable that connected an Apple LLC, Apple’s first portable computer, to a parallel printer.
1984-1987 – Belkin moved to a larger commercial building and established headquarters for approximately 20 employees.
1990s – Production of surge protectors and USB drives.
1992 – Participation at CES.
1996 – Belkin had almost 400 employees.
2001 – FireWire and USB cables debut in Apple retail stores.
2002 – Belkin manufactured its first stereo cables and the world’s first multi-connector docking stations.
2003 – Production of iPod accessories: FM transmitter, media reader, voice recorder, TuneDock and car kits.
2004 – Launch of the Tunecast series for wireless audio playback in car and indoors.
2005 – Launch of the Pure AV series: network filters that filter out noise and interference.
2006 – Belkin power bank was used on a space mission aboard the Space Shuttle Discovery. The device was connected to an iPod 3G to keep the music player charged during the flight.
2008 – Belkin launched TuneStudio, the first four-channel audio mixer for iPod devices.
2012 – Creation of the Wemo brand, specializing in devices for smart home systems.
2013 – Acquisition of Linksys. Launch of the first Thunderbolt docking station.
2014 – Belkin was recognized by CES: the company became the winner of the Innovation Award, moreover, this title was achieved in the following years: 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2020 and 2021.
2015 – Creation of the Phyn brand, specializing in innovative technologies for water usage monitoring.
2018 – Foxconn, a multinational electronics manufacturer, acquired Belkin, including subsidiary brands, for $886 million.
2018 – Creation of the Playa brand, specializing in affordable accessories for small retailers.
2019 – Launch of the first collection of Rockstar audio products.
2020 – Collaboration with Devialet studio and creation of the SOUNDFORM Elite Hi-Fi Smart system (charger in the speaker system).
2020 – Manufacturer of the Year at the Mobile Industry Awards.
2021 – Expansion of the SOUNDFORM range: from affordable solutions to systems with noise absorption.
2023 – Production of new products designed with a commitment to be carbon neutral.
